The monumental stair in the atrium of RIT’s College of Computing and Informational Sciences is the building’s centerpiece. Semi-circular landings framed with heavy channels float above the ground floor unsupported. The guardrails are side-mounted with a wide stainless steel flat bar cap rail and a multi-line painted steel flat bar infill.
Outside, two ornamental sculptures outside different entrances to the building unify the site. The sculptures feature a series of rolled stainless steel and bronze rings. Hand-forged wrought iron elements branch out in a circular pattern to form a sort of “tree”. The steel components are galvanized and powder coated for durability.
